The Magnificent Micro-Entrepreneur
62Entrepreneurs in their infancy
Micro-Entrepreneurs; consisting of 0-5 employees, are the most hopeful bridge to economic recovery we have right now. Where others describe the micro-entrepreneur as 1-5 employees, I like to include zero (0) into the formula. It’s that creative state where the decision to embark on our dream endeavors happen. Voluntarily or involuntarily, self-employment is on the rise. Unhappy with large corporate downsizing, forced early retirements and financial downfalls of corporate companies, self-employment is on the increase but this is nothing new. Recession has always brought seeds of entrepreneurship. We can't count on government, and we can't wait for big business to hire again. We need to take control of our own financial futures.
Trying to stay out of the unemployment line, which doesn’t sufficiently support our families anyway, survival is certainly a big motivator. Forced into these jobless situations, many embellish themselves with lifetime aspirations that up to now have been longtime desires and hidden passions. They are becoming today’s innovators and dreamers. They are the mighty micro-entrepreneurs of our time. However, for them, it’s like swimming upstream to make ends meet. Due to lack of financial support, entrepreneurship training, community and personal support, many do not make it.
We must embrace the entrepreneur in this “micro” state so he/she can thrive and flourish in this economy. We must understand the micro-entrepreneur of today is the small business of tomorrow and the corporation of the future. They are today’s Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Steve Jobs (Apple), the Mark Zuckerbergs (Facebook), the Larry Page and Sergey Brins (Google) of tomorrow. All of them were micro-entrepreneurs at one time. So, whether you’re writing for HubPages or blogging somewhere else to help manifest your own dream, here’s to you and your success. It all has to start somewhere. Why not with you? Reach out to a fellow micro-entrepreneur or Hubber and be supportive. Feed positive energy to the process. If one succeeds we all succeed!

I agree with you 100%. Having had several 0-5 employee companies, and still owning 3, it is imperative to find the support and do the planning to stay just ahead. I have bigger plans now - and hope you will stay in touch.
